Are you planning on going out of town soon? Many people leave their cats home when they leave town. While our feline friends are definitely more independent than dogs are, they are still small and vulnerable, and shouldn’t be left alone too long. Fluffy will be both safer and more comfortable staying at a kitty hotel. Read on as a local Scottsdale, AZ vet lists some reasons Fluffy will be better off being boarded while you’re away.

Cats Get Lonely

Kitties may have tried very hard to make us think they are fiercely independent. To be fair, Fluffy can be a bit aloof. However, we’re not buying it. Our feline companions are very emotional, and form extremely strong bonds with their humans. They also tend to get lonely, bored, sad, anxious, and depressed when left by themselves. This can actually lead to physical problems. For instance, if Fluffy stops eating because she’s lonely, she could get very sick.

We probably don’t have to tell you that kitties are notoriously frisky, and just have habit of getting into trouble. The saying about cats having nine lives is a good indication of this, even though it isn’t true. If you leave Fluffy alone, she could get in serious trouble if she gets into something and can’t be rescued. As another saying says, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Pets with any sort of health issues should not be left alone for extended periods of time. If Fluffy has medical problems, we definitely would recommend boarding her. Kittens and senior cats also shouldn’t be left alone.

If you board with your vet, you may be able to save yourself a few appointments by scheduling your furball’s exams to coincide with boarding. Two birds, one stone!

Cats are very playful, and need stimulation and entertainment. Your feline buddy may really enjoy spending time in her kitty hotel, where she can investigate new spots and trying out some different napping places.

Peace of Mind

Last but not least, when you put Fluffy in a kitty hotel, you’ll be able to relax, knowing your furry friend is safe and sound and being well taken care of. Traveling is stressful enough as it is!
